Description: The RIS states "construction of twin-bored tunnel of at least 1.8 miles as the road passes Stonehenge coupled with a dual carriageway bypass for Winterbourne Stoke to link the existing dual carriageway section around Amesbury with the dual carriageway at Berwick Down".

DCA text: The IPA Delivery Confidence Assessment of Amber reflects the progress made by the project in setting itself up for successful delivery. The government’s preferred route was announced by the Secretary of State for Transport on 12 September 2017 and funding for the Development Phase of the project was approved by the Chief Secretary to the Treasury on 29 August 2017. Since then, the Management Case for the project has been approved and the project has made significant progress in developing the design and engaging with stakeholders to secure their views informally and through statutory consultation which commenced on 8 February 2018.
