| Description: | The new nuclear programme will: a) ensure operators can build and operate new nuclear power stations in England and Wales from the earliest possible date; taking into account our no public subsidy policy; and b) create a framework so that operators contribute as much low carbon electricity as possible to meet the UKs 2050 carbon targets cost effectively. The programme does this by creating the right regulatory and policy framework, removing unnecessary obstacles and proactively identifying actions to ensure that the first station can be operational from 2019.
